Rae is listening to Stereo*type A downstairs and it's wafting up through the floorboards. "Moonchild" just makes me want to sit out on the fire escape and listen to it with her. Since this afternoon I have passed the 500-page mark in Pynchon, cooked up some of my trademark peanut-soy pasta gunk for Jonah Volk and Ben N'yamean and greeted Ester and watched WHMS with her and Ben tangled on the bed. Samarah and her flatmates have begun making use of the library next-door. We should have dinner with them sometime so they feel less guilty about borrowing things. I also talked to my father for a long time about books and music. He's been buying even more than me: NMH, MagFields, TMBG, Dylan, Dandys, Byrne, and so on. He and Ester discussed DeLillo (she read my copy of Americana and left it at home) (he says Mao II is sort of about Pynchon.) I want to live in NYC this summer with Ben and Ester and Alyssa maybe, and work or intern with a magazine or record label or something. Mom says sounds good but she doesn't think George and Michelle will let us use the apartment, also suggests looking into jobs first. Ben suggested with Paper. I just went to their website and subscribed, even though first I had to stagger through the flat looking for the wallet that was right next to me. Why did I have to do it right now? I don't know. I'm going to bed.
